Letter from President Peyton R. Helm to 2012 Graduates and Their Families

With great pride and anticipation, I invite you to attend Muhlenberg College’s 164th Commencement Weekend on Saturday, May 19, and Sunday, May 20, 2012.  The Baccalaureate Service will begin at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday and the Family Appreciation Reception will be held immediately after.  The Commencement ceremony will begin at  10:00 a.m. on Sunday and lasts approximately two hours.  Both ceremonies will be held on the College Green, with Memorial Hall serving as the rain location.  We hope you will join us for the entire weekend.

On Saturday, May 19, at their mandatory meeting, seniors will receive important instructions for Commencement weekend.  They will also be given three rain tickets each for Baccalaureate and Commencement at this meeting.  These will be for your use should the weather force us indoors.  Ticket holders will be assured seats in Memorial Hall.  Due to limited seating in Memorial Hall, there will be closed circuit television viewing of the Commencement proceedings in both the main lobby and the Red Door Cafe in the Seegers Union building, in the classrooms of Moyer Hall, and in the Lithgow Science Auditorium in Trumbower Hall.  Tickets are not required if the ceremonies are held outdoors.

If anyone in your family has a disability, or a hearing or visual impairment that would require a special accommodation, please contact our Public Relations Office at 484-664-3230 by May 1st.  You may direct any inquiries about Commencement to that office as well.

Professional photographers from Island Photography, Inc., will photograph each student as his/her diploma is received and will contact graduates about purchasing these photographs.

Commencement is a proud day for you, your family and your friends.  We share in your happiness and we look forward to welcoming you as a member of the Muhlenberg family.

I look forward to greeting you in May.

Sincerely,

Peyton R. Helm
