Humans have a deep-seated resistance to complex modes of thinking or scientific explanations because they would rather have faith in creation myths and identify heroes and sacred places in the world. Humans have the freedom to choose their beliefs. Many purposely view the world in a simplistic manner. It is easier to deal with the lack of moral responsibility they see around them when they can hope for a better eternal life.
