Germany has been a center of change for great intellectual, literary and artistic movements. Romanticism became dominant in the late 1700s and resulted from " a fusion of political, philosophical and artistic elements". Themes of nature, love and virtue were produced by poets such as Ludwig Tieck and Joseph von Eichendorff and artists such as Caspar David Friedrich. These men changed how the world was viewed.
