Governor's Academy  for Urban Learning - 2004

Registration
Registration will be held in the Moyer Hall Foyer from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 20, 2004. The Academy program begins at 4:00 p.m. with a dinner followed by a presentation, Modifying the Reading Curriculum for Learners with Special Needs, by Dr. Robert B. Cooter, a nationally recognized speaker on urban education.

Parking
Parking is available in the lots in front of the new residence halls, Robertson Hall and South Hall. Additional parking is available in the commuter parking lot, which is east of the Trexler Library, adjacent to Chew Street. Campus security will require the Make, Model & Year of Car as well as License Plate Number and Color of Car.

Dormitory Lodging
Participants will be lodged in the air-conditioned new residence halls. Robertson Hall has 17 suites of four single rooms and South Hall has 18 suites of four single rooms. Galley kitchens within the suite include a refrigerator, microwave, sink, and table and chairs. Toilet facilities in each suite consist of a toilet room with a sink, shower room, and two sinks with vanities. Small living rooms within the suites include a sofa, chairs and computer and cable hook-ups.

A bed, dresser, desk, desk chair and set of linens (top and bottom sheet, towel, washcloth, pillowcase, pillow) will be provided. Participants are encouraged to bring basic toiletries, alarm clock, radio, desk light, cellular phone and laptop computer. In each residence hall are two large bi-level social spaces that overlook the Allentown Parkway system. The residence halls are located across the street from the dining facility.

Dining
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be in the Garden Room of Seegers Union. All meals will be presented buffet-style with two complete serving lines. Morning and afternoon refreshment breaks will be in the Moyer Hall Foyer. Wood Dining Service provides the meals and their reputation is excellent.

Classroom Facilities
Most classes will be held in the Moyer Hall academic building that houses the college's psychology, education, religion, and philosophy departments. Moyer Hall contains a large-group instruction area, the Miller Forum, and ten "state-of-the-art" classrooms, seminar rooms, and computer laboratories. All facilities contain the latest in technological arrangements. MAC Machine
A MAC Machine is located on campus in the front entrance of Seegers Union.
