Living Learning Experience

Continuing for 2009-2010
A Living-Learning Experience for Students

With the success of this year’s program, the Center for Ethics is happy to partner again with the Office of Residential Services to offer another exciting year of the Living-Learning Experience for eight to twelve adventurous Muhlenberg students, chosen by application.

Students participating in “the Experience” will not only get to study the 2009-10 theme“Ethics of Space / Power of Place,” but live it.  The Center for Ethics Living-Learning Experienceis a unique community housed in Robertson Hall that will explore the themes, ideas, problems and questions contained in the Center’s programming.

The Living-Learning Experience is founded on the belief that intellectual exploration does not have to be separate from social pleasure – that a “life of the mind” can be fun, engaging and meaningful – and that engaging with real-world issues can bring people together.

The Living-Learning community is led by a Scholar-in-Residence, chosen from among the faculty, and a Student Assistant, chosen from among the applicants.  Members of the community will get to know new people and explore interesting ideas and conversation in a laidback atmosphere.  They will engage directly with the world-class scholars and artists who visit campus as part of the Center’s programs.  They will attend, help out, and even plan a Center event next spring.  Just as important, they’ll cook meals together, chat informally about some of the ideas from the programming, and get to know each other as thinkers and people.  And they’ll do all of this while enjoying preferred housing in Robertson Hall.

Applications are due to the Office of Residential Services by March 13.
