What is the Faculty Center For Teaching?

Founded in 1994 by a group of faculty from a variety of disciplines, the Faculty Center for Teaching at Muhlenberg College is designed to assist and support faculty members as they explore new approaches to their teaching. In addition to a year-long orientation program for new faculty, the Center offers workshops, discussions, and lectures related to teaching throughout the academic year. In these programs, faculty members share challenges they encounter in teaching and discuss approaches to learning that they have found successful. The Faculty Center for Teaching is interested in assisting individual faculty members, departments, and inter-disciplinary teams to enhance student learning and supports innovation by funding attendance at teaching conferences and by awarding summer grants for revision of courses and curricula.

The Center's resources (see the link below) are located in the Muhlenberg Room of Trexler Library and can be checked out by faculty in the same manner as other Library holdings.

The Advisory Board for the Faculty Center For Teaching is:

  • Michael Carbone (Education)
  • Amze Emmons (Art)
  • Amy Hark (Biology)
  • Linda McGuire, Program Director (Mathematics and Computer Science)
  • Lisa Perfetti, Director (Languages, Literatures, & Cultures)
