Loom Beater
Wood |
Another loom apparatus is the loom beater. When threading the loom, the weaver passes the warp threads through the teeth of the loom beater, working groups of four threads. The teeth of the beater are generally bamboo or palm fiber, and the bottom of the beater frame is usually heavy aiding in the swinging momentum of using the loom. The main function of the beater is to push down upon the woven threads in order to maintain an even alignment and straight edge within the warp.
