Ewe? (Ghana)
Figures
Wood |
These small wooden figures exemplify a style typical of the southeastern
region of the Côte d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast) a rigid pose, bulbous
upper arms, and short legs. In this region, there are several groups
living in close proximity; as a result, the objects show a stylistic
dialogue with figures produced by the Ewe, Baule, and the Anyi peoples.
