       A worldwide primary and secondary school-based education and science program that allows for reporting of data and research projects, collaboration with other scientists and students, protocols, and other educational tools. 

U.S. Geological Survey (http://www.usgs.gov)
       A water, earth, and biological science and civilian mapping agency that carries out large-scale multi-disciplinary investigations. 

The Vernal Pool Association  (http://www.vernalpool.org/vpa_1.htm)
       An environmental outreach project started in 1990 in Massachusetts attempting to educate others about vernal pool ecology, the local environment, bio-diversity, and the protection of our resources.  This association encourages student involvement, while providing educational materials regarding vernal pools.

       Includes a brief description of vernal pools and additional information regarding wetlands. 

U.S. Department of the Interior, U.S. Geological Survey  (http://www.epa.gov/owow/wetlands/types/vernal.html)
       An article by Tim B. Graham exploring climate change and ephemeral pool ecosystems, specifically potholes and vernal pools as potential indicator systems.  The article includes a comprehensive introduction to ephemeral pools and pool organisms. 

University of Maine's Wetland Connections  (http://www.umaine.edu/wetlands/vernal.htm)
      A program dedicated to the interdisciplinary study of the science and ecology of wetlands by Maine students.  Navigation links for the website's pages regarding vernal pools can be found on the bottom right of this homepage (the links on the left are not for vernal pools).  This site includes background information on vernal pools, descriptions of vernal pool species, and an explanation regarding the connection between vernal pools and the upland area.

Roger Tory Peterson Institute: Vernal Pools Monitoring Project   (http://vernalpools.rtpi.org )
      Explores the ecology of temporary ponds and how to incorporate hands-on learning into the classroom.  The site includes an introduction to vernal pools and a database of data collected thus far.  This site is currently under construction, however, field guides and protocols for investigating the vernal pools are anticipated.

Audubon Society's Conservation Fact Sheet: Vernal Pools  (http://www.nhaudubon.org/conservation/vernal.htm )
      A conservation fact sheet created by the New Hampshire division of the Audubon Society.  The website includes detailed information on vernal pool species, specifically, amphibians, invertebrates, and reptiles.  In addition, threats to vernal pools and ways to help conserve vernal pools are included.

Vermont DEC: Water Quality Division  (http://www.anr.state.vt.us/dec/waterq/bass.htm )
      A website dedicated to biomonitoring and aquatic studies, including a focus on vernal pools. 

Rhode Island Vernal Pools  (http://www.uri.edu/cels/nrs/paton/ )
      A website documenting the characteristics of vernal pools, the species that use and/or live in vernal pools, and current efforts to protect vernal pool habitat.  A list of federal and state regulations regarding wetlands is included, in addition to a list of supplementary links.  This site is currently under construction.
