Peter Pettit

Peter A. Pettit, Director

Peter A. Pettit is director of the Institute for Jewish-Christian Understanding and teaches in the Religion Studies department.  He has been active in Christian-Jewish dialogue for more than 25 years, giving leadership in local, national and international settings.  He is a contributor to the Dictionary of Jewish-Christian Relations, Seeing Judaism Anew and Covenantal Conversations, and co-authored Talking Points: Topics in Jewish-Christian Relations for the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.  His research and writing ranges across biblical studies, theology, liturgy and Israel studies, informing a broad array of presentation topics for lay and professional audiences.  His courses at Muhlenberg College focus on both the history and present dynamics of the Jewish-Christian relationship and include a travel seminar that traces post-Holocaust developments in the relationship in Europe.

Jeanette Eichenwald

Schools Program Coordinator

Jeanette Eichenwald is the Schools Program Coordinator for the Institute for Jewish Christian Understanding. In that capacity, she directs the Youth and Prejudice program held annually in the fall for high school students and in the spring for middle school students.  The program is now in its 16th year and has positively impacted thousands of students.  She is a graduate of Muhlenberg College and has been active in Jewish Christian relationships for more than 30 years.  She is the Director of an adult study program on Jewish Studies housed at the Jewish Community Center.  She is  presently a member of Allentown City Council.  Jeanette is a past recipient of the Raoul Wallenberg Award in recognition of her interfaith work. 

 

Christine Bartholomew

Office Manager and Program Coordinator

 

Christine Bartholomew is the office manager and program coordinator for the Institute for Jewish-Christian Understanding and was with the IJCU at its inception in 1989 with founding Director, Franklin Sherman.  She left in 1995 to be a stay-at-home mom and returned to her position in January 2001.  Christine is responsible for the layout and design of our desktop publishing; bochures, newsletters, flyers and mailings.  She also coordinates all of the programming for the IJCU, as well as maintaining our website.
