It was not your typical groundbreaking ceremony....President Helm and others
arrived at the site in a red truck, wearing hard hats, lab coats and protective
goggles, and the new building was toasted with beverages served in beakers
reminiscent of a chemistry lab. From left to right are: Richard Brueckner '71,

The first phase of the science improvements will be construction
of the new facility. Occupancy is expected by the fall of 2006. A
second phase will follow immediately, including the renovation of
the first two floors of Shankweiler, along with a new stair/elevator
tower and a bridge connecting the upper two floors of the Shankweiler
and Trumbower Science Buildings. Completion of this phase is expected
in January of 2007.
Construction of the 9,000 square foot, two-level
addition to Seegers Union will begin in June 2005. Included will
be new meeting spaces on the main level and expanded academic services
space on the lower level. Completion is scheduled for January 2006.
Renovation of the existing academic services facilities on the lower
level will occur during the summer of 2006.
