graduating with a doctorate in optometry from Nova Southeastern University
in May 2003, Joie Brody has relocated to Scottsdale,
Ariz., with her boyfriend, Matthew Miller. She works for Nationwide
Vision in Phoenix.
On November 7, 2003, Marcy Emanuel and Ken Keltai announced
their engagement to family and friends. Their wedding is planned for
October 16, 2004, at the Dellwood Country Club in New City, N.Y. Ken
is an assistant landscape architect for Elizabeth Kennedy Landscape
Architecture (EKLA), based in Brooklyn, N.Y. Marcy is the operations
manager for the training department at Aon Consulting in Manhattan.
David Garbe and Shelly Markowitz ’99
are happy to announce their engagement. They are planning a May 2004
wedding and recently bought a house in Pennsauken, N.J. David is currently
working on his Ph.D. at the University of Pennsylvania, and Shelly is
a middle school math teacher and high school varsity softball coach.
Renu (Dogra) and Marc Greenberg were
married in July 2003 at the VIP Country Club in New Rochelle, N.Y. Muhlenberg
alumni in attendance included Jessica (Hoover) Cimini, Laurie
Kennedy, MB Morris, Libbi (Pannone) Skivo, Peter Dunlaevy, Marko Kipa
and Jon Skivo ’00. Renu and Marc currently reside
in Miami, Fla., where Marc is attending law school and Renu is working
as an account executive for Marc USA Advertising.
Melanie (Strickland) Lieberman and her husband, Douglas,
are getting ready to celebrate their fifth anniversary with a trip to
New Orleans. Their daughter, Jordan, recently celebrated her first birthday.
The family lives in West Chester, Pa.
On August 9, 2003, Libbi (Pannone) and Jon
Skivo ’00 exchanged marriage vows in an afternoon ceremony
on the beach of Ocean City, N.J. Libbi walked down the aisle to the
sounds of a steel drummer and the couple surprised their guests by arriving
to the bay side reception on a fishing boat. Among members of the wedding
party were ’Berg graduates Renu Dogra Greenberg, Laurie
Kennedy, MB Morris, David Brassler ’00 and Christian
Davidson ’00. Other Muhlenberg alumni who were a part
of the couple’s day were Jessica (Hoover) Cimini, Carey
Hilton ’99, JoAnne (Strug) Kanuk ’99, Jaime (DeMartino)
’00 and Keith McDonald ’00, John North
’93, Andy Pratt ’96 and Joshua Simons.
The newlyweds have made Center City Philadelphia their first home together.
Christy Rudderow happily announces her engagement to
Bill Skibicki of Dover, Del. Christy and Bill met at Eglin Air Force
Base in Florida, where the both work – Bill as a nurse and Christy
in her second year of family-practice residency. “Bill asked me
to marry him while we were on vacation in San Francisco after attending
the wedding of Andrea (Cook) Kelley ’98 in Folsom, Calif.,”
writes Christy. A May 2004 wedding is planned in Huntingdon Valley,
Pa.

Bates sends this news: “While working full-time as a
pediatric nurse at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, I completed
my MSN degree and CRNP certification at UPenn in August. I accepted
an inpatient pediatric nurse practitioner position with the Division
of Gastroenterology and Nutrition in September, and bought a home the
following week. I am so grateful to be part of such an amazing hospital,
and can’t believe they’re paying me to do something I love.
Questions about Muhlenberg came up several times during interviews.
I still can’t walk past a ginkgo tree in University City without
thinking about Dr. Niesenbaum’s classes!”
Jorge and Jolly (Benitez) Becerra were married July
4, 2003. Jolly is a bilingual kindergarten teacher in Heightstown, N.J.
Jason Bergman is an associate attorney at the law firm
of Bee Ready Fishbein Hatter & Donovan, LLP, specializing in lender
representation and real estate litigation. He currently resides in Lawrence,
N.Y.
Larry Carney is now the producer of ABC2 News at 5
and 5:30 in Baltimore, Md. Previously, he was the creator and producer
of FOX45 Morning News.
Amanda Gevens and her husband, Steven Jordan, just
celebrated their first anniversary. Amanda is a Ph.D. student at Michigan
State University, where she is a research assistant in the department
of plant pathology.
After teaching for four years at the elementary level, Mike
Peterson is teaching ninth-grade math in the Boyertown Area
School District, Boyertown, Pa.
