Background

Dr. Donna J. Bergenstock joined the Muhlenberg ABE faculty in the summer of 2000 and currently serves as Coordinator of Muhlenberg's Business Program. She holds a B.S. degree in Marketing from The Pennsylvania State University, and a M.B.A. and Ph.D. in Business and Economics from Lehigh University. She is passionate about marketing and teaches a variety of classes in the discipline including the introductory Marketing course, Global Marketing, and Marketing Management. She is the faculty advisor to the Business & Economics Club and the advisor to the student Scotty Wood Tournament Committee.

Dr. Bergenstock occupies a unique position as an academic researcher of the international diamond industry. Her Ph.D. dissertation analyzed the impact of Russian diamond sales on the De Beers organization. Her first book, An Analysis of the International Diamond Market, also addressed the managerial strategies and marketing challenges facing De Beers in the new millennium. Her work has received international attention; she has attended the Antwerp Diamond Conference and has appeared on ABC News 20/20 with John Stossel. She continues to study De Beers and diamonds; her publications and presentations focus on industry structure, competitive issues, and branding strategies. Some of her other research interests include consumer behavior regarding luxury purchases; behavioral issues and country-of-origin effects, and the economics and marketing of international adoption.
