The art department seeks to develop students' aesthetic sensibilities within the liberal arts tradition. Its goals are to provide students with a fundamental understanding of art and the history of art in a cultural context, to introduce them to the rudiments of visual language, to develop and strengthen their technical skills, and to acquaint them with the challenges facing artists in contemporary society.
