Samantha Burgess came to Muhlenberg from
her home in Southborough, MA. She is a chemistry
major, and she has been working with Dr. Keane since
her freshman year investigating a series of novel
tungsten compounds. Her summer activities have
involved an internship at Vertex Pharmaceuticals and
participation in the National Science Foundation
Research Experience for Undergraduates program at
Brandeis University. She is currently trying to
narrow down her graduate school options to a short
list, and she also enjoys taking dance lessons,
singing in church choir, and peer tutoring in her
spare time.
Brian Wernick is a senior Biochemistry major and
a Jewish Studies minor from Reading, PA. Since the
Spring of his Junior year, he has been a member of
the Lincomycin Research team with Dr. Keri Colabroy.
This past summer, he worked in Dr. Colabroy’s
research lab studying the biosynthetic pathway of
lincomycin. During the Fall of his Junior year,
Brian got a taste of Danish culture when he studied
abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark. Outside of
schoolwork, Brian plays on the Varsity Tennis team,
is the Senior Engagement Coordinator for Hillel, and
a member of the fraternity, Delta Tau Delta. Next
year, Brian plans to pursue an M.D. degree at Temple
University School of Medicine.
