In the back corner of the LLC
there is an audio/video cart which contains the following
equipment:
1) A television
2)
One "regular" VCR, capable of playing and recording
NTSC video (North American standard), labeled "recording
VCR"
3) One
multi-zone VCR, capable of playing and recording VHS tapes
in any video signal format, labeled "VCR 2"
4) Two region-free DVD players, capable of playing DVDs from
anywhere in the world
5) A selector box, used to choose which device is sending a signal
to the TV and VCR 1
Using the audio/video cart, it is possible to:
1) Play a DVD or VHS tape from anywhere in the world
2) Copy a VHS tape from its native format to NTSC (copyright
restrictions apply)
3) Copy *some* DVDs to VHS tape (copyright restrictions apply)
Tips for using the audio/video cart:
1) The television must ALWAYS be tuned to AUX. This is located
between 112 and 2 on the dial
2)
VCR 1 (directly underneath the television) is for recording and
playing normal, NTSC American tapes. VCR 1 also
serves as the "record" VCR
when duplicating foreign tape from VCR 2 or when
recording a live broadcast from cable
3) The small black box with wires running from the back (to the
right of the A/V cart) is the selector switchbox. It determines
which piece of equipment sends a signal to VCR 1 and/or is viewed
on the television. The buttons on the selector switchbox are labeled
How do I play a DVD or VHS tape?
1) Turn on the television. Tune it to the AUX channel, which
is located between 112 and 2 on the dial.
2) Push the button on the selector box that corresponds to the
piece of equipment you need to use.
3) Turn on the piece of equipment you intend to use, and insert
the tape/disc. Press play.
How do I copy a VHS tape?
1) Turn on the television. Tune it to the AUX channel, which
is located between 112 and 2 on the dial.

Push the button on the selector box labeled "recording
VCR."
3) Insert the destination tape into the play/record VCR.
4) Insert the source tape into the multi-zone VCR.
5)
Press "record" on
the play/record VCR.
6)
Press "play" on
