Trexler Library's collections became more diverse this year with purchases made through a Parents' Fund grant. The books share the common theme of Cultural minorities and marginal peoples in the Hispanic and Francophone world.
Students from a variety of disciplines will now be better able to enrich their understanding of the multifaceted nature of Hispanic and Francophone cultures. The lesser-heard voices that make up this collection reflect geographical areas covered by our disciplines: from Spain, the gypsy cultural minority; from Latin America, the many indigenous cultures; and from Africa and the Caribbean, post-colonial Francophone cultures. Over the past twenty years these groups have cultivated solidarity and new ways of expression previously unheard within mainstream culture.
