Remembering The Wall |
On November 9 2004, the fifteenth anniversary
of the fall of the Berlin Wall, Professor Reeder showed our class
a documentary about the events leading up to and culminating in
the opening of the border check points between East and West Berlin.
The film is narrated in English and is compiled of German and American
reels. This powerful documentary is at its best when the East Germans
are streaming across the newly opened border to meet the equally
elated West Germans. The subsequent New Year’s celebration,
capped by an unforgettable orchestral performance of ‘Ode
to Joy’, is a suitable conclusion to a memorable documentary.
