Dr.
Luba Iskold is an Associate Professor of Russian, Director
of the Language
Learning Center,
co-director of the Russian
Studies Program,
and advisor to the Russian Club. Since her arrival at
Muhlenberg College in 1995, she has been teaching a variety
of courses, including Elementary and Intermediate Russian,
Advanced Conversation & Composition, Readings in Russian
Literature, Russian Culture & Civilization, 20th Century
Russian Literature in Translation, First Year Seminar:
"Strangers in Paradise" as well as directing
independent studies on the post-communist art and novel.
Dr. Iskold specializes in second language acquisition,
applied linguistics, instructional technology and has
conducted research
and published
in these areas. In 1996 she launched the departmental
website
and continues to author it. Dr. Iskold is instrumental
in enhancing the departmental curriculum via electronic
resources, as well as assisting the faculty with the design
and development of multimedia and web-based applications
for language learning.

Albert Kipa is Muhlenberg's first
Professor Laureate and former Head of the Department of Languages,
Literatures and Cultures (1989-1993; 1997-2004). He also serves
as Saeger Professor of Comparative Literature and teaches courses
devoted to German, Russian, and "world" literature.
He specializes in Germano-Slavic literary and cultural relations
and is the author or co-author of studies and book reviews in
his field. He has been the recipient of Fulbright, NEH and IREX
grants, as well as Goethe Institute/AATG and Pennsylvania Department
of Education merit awards. From 1980 to 1982 he served on a
National Advisory Council to the U.S. Department of Education.
Currently he serves as campus representative for the Fulbright
program, is a vice-president of the Ukrainian Academy of Arts
& Sciences in the U.S. and a Fellow of the Academy of Pedagogical
Sciences of Ukraine. |
