| Major Requirements |
| Students majoring
in Russian Studies must successfully complete Russian 204 or demonstrate
an equivalent command of the language. All majors must maintain an
average of at least 2.0 in all work done in the major. Majors take
nine courses beyond the College's language requirement including: Language 193-203: Intermediate Russian I 193-204: Intermediate Russian II 193-301: Russian Conversation and Composition Literature (two courses are required) 193-305: Readings in Russian Literature (taught in Russian) 193-401: 19th Century Russian Literature in Translation 193-402: 20th Century Russian Literature in Translation: Russian Nobel Prize Winners Culture 193-320: Russian Culture and Civilization (taught in English) History (two courses required) 402-380: Early Russia 402-381: Imperial Russia 402-382: Soviet Russia Electives (one or two courses are required, depending on Russian language proficiency) 490-232: Government and Politics of Russia and the CIS 470-000: Orthodox Christianity 193-970: Independent Study |
