Empie Theatre, Baker Center for the Arts
Our vocal and instrumental ensembles, such as the College Choir and the Muhlenberg Chamber Orchestra, perform in Empie Theatre. Empie, with seating for 400, is also home to the Muhlenberg Piano Series and the Lehigh Valley Chamber Orchestra. One of the finest Steinway pianos in the country resides in Empie.
Recital Hall, Baker Center for the Arts Faculty and student recitals are held here, as are special events like our Alumni Recital, poetry readings, and International Night, which includes performances by many of our voice students. Recital Hall seats 100 and provides an intimate performance space for small ensembles and solo recitals.
Egner Chapel Chamber groups and the Collegium Musicum perform in the neo-Gothic Egner Chapel. Egner is the site of our annual Candlelight Carols, with singing by the College Choir. A 48-rank tracker-action Holtkamp pipe organ, expertly designed for both accompaniment and solo performance, is located in Egner.
Baker Theatre, Trexler Pavilion for the Arts The Baker Theatre is particularly well-suited to opera performance. In Spring, 2001, the Music and Theatre Departments jointly produced Henry Purcells Dido and Aeneas. Muhlenberg music faculty and students performed leading and accompanying roles.
