Between Muhlenberg College and Jefferson College of Health Professions of
Thomas Jefferson University

Program Description – Physical Therapy

This program is a cooperative agreement between Muhlenberg College and Jefferson College of Health Professions of Thomas Jefferson University (TJU). Students can earn both the Bachelor of Science (B.S.) and Doctor of Physical Therapy (D.P.T.) degrees in six years after graduation from high school. Students will spend the first three years at Muhlenberg College and then proceed to Jefferson College of Health Professions for the final three years of graduate Physical Therapy coursework. The B.S. in Biology or Natural Science, or the A.B. in Dance, Psychology or Sociology from Muhlenberg College will be awarded after successful completion of the first year at Jefferson College of Health Professions. The D.P.T. degree from Thomas Jefferson University will be awarded after successful completion of the third year at Jefferson College of Health Professions.

This program is a cooperative agreement between Muhlenberg College and Jefferson College of Health Professions of Thomas Jefferson University (TJU). Students can earn both the Bachelor of Science (B.S.) or the Bachelor of Arts (A.B.) and the Master’s in Occupational Therapy degrees in five and a half years after graduation from high school. Students will spend the first three years at Muhlenberg College and then proceed to Jefferson College of Health Professions for the final two and a half years of graduate Occupational Therapy coursework. The B.S. in Natural Science or the A.B. in Psychology or Sociology from Muhlenberg College will be awarded after successful completion of the first year at Jefferson College of Health Professions. The Master’s in Occupational Therapy degree from Thomas Jefferson University will be awarded after successful completion of the third year at Jefferson College of Health Professions.

Admission Requirements 

High school students must have a cumulative high school GPA of 3.2>. SAT I scores must be 1280> from the Critical Reading and Math sections with neither score <580. High school students must submit a completed regular undergraduate Muhlenberg College admissions application by January 1st. Official high school transcripts, official SAT I test scores, an essay, an activities resume (including hours volunteered in the desired profession) and application fees must all be included.

Admission Decisions

A maximum of five students may be selected for each program. Muhlenberg's Admissions Office will forward to Jefferson the credentials of up to 12 finalists, selected by a committee comprised of Admissions staff and faculty. Jefferson will review the finalists and invite candidates they feel are well qualified to Jefferson for interviews. Jefferson will make final decisions about who is selected for the programs and communicate these decisions to Muhlenberg. Applicants will be rank-ordered so that if any of the top five choose not to enroll, students lower down on the list can be bumped up.
