The Rosenberg Research Award provides a stipend to a psychology student who is engaged in research that is developmental in nature (either directly or indirectly). In order to be eligible for the Award students must have a Psychology GPA of 3.5 or above and have completed both Psychological Statistics and Research Methods. The research idea must be independently proposed by the student or could be related to a faculty member's research, but may not be the faculty member's research. Procedures for applying for the award are described below. The application cover sheet is available in the Psychology Office (Moyer 227) or you may download the .doc file at this link. Submit a hard copy of your completed application to the Chair of the Research Award Committee, Dr. Stefanie Sinno.
Due date for the 2010-2011 Academic Year: Wednesday, March 31st
Application Procedures:
- Discuss research idea with faculty sponsor
- Complete application cover sheet. The application cover sheet is available in the Psychology Office (Moyer 227) or you may download the .doc file at this link.
- Complete brief review of literature and provide clear description of project, including proposed methods
- Provide a timeline for completion of portions of the project, including when IRB application will be submitted, when the literature search will be complete, when data collection will be complete, when data analysis will be complete
- Provide a letter from the faculty sponsor indicating that you are capable of completing the project and that the project is feasible and significant
- Submit your completed application to the Chair of the Research Award Committee, Dr. Stefanie Sinno.
- All items listed above are included in application packet
- Preference will be given to projects which show the connection to developmental psychology
- The students relevant course background and prior research experience
- The faculty sponsor letter shows clear confidence in the student
The student who is awarded the Rosenberg Research Award, with their faculty sponsor, will choose two other faculty members (who may come from outside the Psychology Department) to serve on their review committee as the project progresses. At the end of the second semester of the project, the student must give an oral defense of their project to the community (the Psychology Department and interested others) and well as the donor of the provided stipend.
