Final Paper Proposal/Outline

After reading about and doing preliminary research for the Final Paper assignment, please provide the following information (typed):

  1. Your topic: that is, your problem you have chosen.

  2. Your thesis: You can use several sentences to describe your thesis. In fact, because this is a complex paper, you may have a thesis which “evolves” within the finished paper. You may present a fairly simple thesis at the beginning of the paper, but end up with a more sophisticated version of that simple thesis by the end of the paper. For now, just give me a sense of where you are going with the paper. Note that your topic and the thesis are different.  Your thesis is the specific argument and/or conclusion (e.g., solution) you will be defending and/or leading up to in the paper.

  3. List of Concepts/Theories: Provide a numbered list of the concepts you think you will be discussing in your paper. Along with the name of the concept/theory, provide a very brief sentence about how you think it may apply to your critique/problem (or solution). Remember, however, that quality, not quantity matters.

  4. List of 10 citations (in APA style). Presumably you have already been on PSYCHINFO browsing for ideas and/or searching for sources for your paper. Please list TEN articles you have found that you think might be useful in your final paper. I will not hold you to these articles if you find others that work better, but I do want to see that you have been thoroughly exploring the topic and offer suggestions if I can.

Please let me know if you have any questions .You will get a zero on your final paper if you don’t turn in a proposal. 5% will be deducted from your final paper grade each day this proposal is late. Save the assignment when I turn it back to you with my comments – you need to attach it to your final paper.
