Title of Study: Perceptions of Children's Behavior

 

Thank you for your interest in our study. The purpose of this research project is to better understand what influences people’s perceptions of children’s behavior. This study is being conducted at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

In this study, you will be asked to view a brief video and complete a brief survey about the child in the video. In total, the entire study should take approximately 15-20 minutes to complete. By taking part in the survey you hereby acknowledge that you understand the terms of the study and grant consent to participate in this research project. We anticipate that your responses will help us gain a deeper understanding of how people view children’s behavior in social and educational settings.

Your participation in this study is voluntary and no identifying information will be requested or tracked (i.e., internet protocol addresses), therefore your anonymity will be protected. You may terminate your participation in the study at any time without penalty.

This project has been approved by the Institutional Review Board at Muhlenberg College.  Approval of this project means that the procedures used in this study have been designed to adequately protect the rights and welfare of the participants. To maximize confidentiality, submitted data will be downloaded and stored on the primary investigator’s password-protected computer. It should be noted, however, that absolute confidentiality cannot be guaranteed due to limited information security associated with internet usage. Because the survey does not request personally sensitive information, and because your identity will be not be revealed to the investigators, there are no anticipated negative concerns for participation in this study. You may contact the Psychology Department Coordinator of Human Participants Research, 484-664-3420, if you have questions concerning your rights as a participant in psychological research or to report a research-related injury.
