Each semester, students enrolled in Dr. Kovats-Bernat's sections of the course travel to the PECO Primate Reserve at the Philadelphia Zoo in order to carry out an afternoon of primate observation. The students' fieldnotes are used in support of their semester-long comparative study of the social and anatomical systems of non-human primates, and a final report of their research findings. Some students have opted to continue their primatological studies in independent studies, and some alums of the department have gone on to graduate research with primates.
