COSTUME, SCENIC & LIGHTING SHOPS
The diverse production program of the Department of Theatre & Dance offers design and technical theatre majors the essential production opportunities to practice their art and craft. The combined resources of the Baker Center for the Arts and the Trexler Pavilion for Theatre & Dance support an extensive laboratory experience in scenic, lighting, sound, and costume design and technology. The Department of Theatre & Dance schedules nine diverse classical and contemporary productions in a wide range of genres each academic year, providing many design and construction opportunities in all areas.
Professional faculty artists design in the mainstage production program, and select students are also given the opportunity to design mainstage, studio and student projects in scenic, lighting, sound and costume design. All theatre and dance majors are introduced to Stagecraft and encouraged to assume technical and production responsibilities as well as performance roles in the course of their educations.
