Bat Boy: The Musical
Musical by Laurence O’ Keefe
October 23-November 1 | Baker Theatre

"...Campy entertainment that should appeal to anyone willing to take a chance on the unusual."
-The Morning Call
"Area residents should take advantage of having this gem in their backyard
and support the arts at Muhlenberg College. I give Bat Boy thumbs up!"
-Roy Keeler: Roy's Rants
"I was hooked from the start of the show and couldn't stop thinking about it until long after it was over.
Not only do the beautiful voices of the actors and actresses stay with you throughout
the rest of the day, but you also leave the theater with newfound wisdom."
-The Muhlenberg Weekly
"What really keeps you engaged through the whole show
are the wonderful voices of the actors and their excellent comic timing."
-The Muhlenberg Advocate
"It is Mayes who steals this show. His remarkable athleticism, scurrying about the stage,
even hanging upside down in his cage, makes us truly believe he is some sort of cross-species."
-Lehigh Valley Source
"The musical has a great deal of heart."
-Lehigh Valley Live
The amazing story of a brilliant boy-beast with pointy ears and a lethal overbite. Tackling racism and American delusions of owning the high moral ground, this cult hit
also entertains with the self-aware sillyness of comedy-horror. The Bat Boy struggles to find a place in a world that shuns him, a community where “love creates both miracles and madness.”
When a strange half-bat, half-boy is discovered in a cave by some mischievous spelunkers, the townsfolk lock him up in a cage hoping the town veterinarian will dispose of it.
The townsfolk are astonished when the Parkers accept the ‘atrocity’ into their family. They instruct Bat Boy how to talk, dress, and act normally, and soon he longs to be accepted as member of society.
At first he seems to get his wish but then a series of mysterious murders, dead cows, and a lot of blood leave him suspect and turns the town against him.
For mature audiences over 14.
