Graphic Short Story Contest
2010 Official Rules
SUBMISSION DEADLINE: November 14, 2010
ENTRANTS
All entrants must be currently enrolled students at Muhlenberg College.
Entrants can work individually, in pairs, or as part of a group.
SUBMISSIONS
Submissions must use the graphic novel format which tells a complete story with a beginning, middle, and end using sequential art. Entrants may use traditional comic book style panels or another style as long as the depiction meets the sequential art criteria. Submissions should be no more than 25 pages in length.
REGISTRATION AND SUBMISSION PROCESS
To be eligible for prizes, an entry along with completed registration form must be received by the library by November 14, 2010.
Submissions may be on paper or submitted electronically via email. (Electronic submissions should be printable with no moving images.) Drop paper submissions off Trexler Library: Level B Collection Management or Level A Lending Services. Email electronic submissions with registration form to plochner@muhlenberg.edu.
SUBMISSION TERMS
By submitting a work, you (including any other entrants in your group) agree:
- that the submission is original and does not infringe on the intellectual property, privacy, or publicity rights or any other legal or moral rights of any third party, or violate applicable laws, regulations, or terms of use;
- that you have all rights and authorization to enter the submission into the contest;
- that you, as the copyright holder, grant Trexler Library permission to copy, distribute, transmit, and display your work virtually or in-person, in whole or in part for non-commercial purposes and with credit given to you as the creator(s).
JUDGING / WINNING / PRIZES
Entries will be evaluated by a team of judges with respect to:
- story content having a beginning, middle, and end
- story being told using sequential art
- entertainment value (humor, drama, etc.)
- creativity/originality
Winning submissions will be announced on or before November 17, 2010.
Prizes:
First place -- $75 Amazon.com gift certificate, autographed copy of Be A Nose! by Art Spiegelman and meet the author on November 17
Second place -- $30 Rave Movie Theater gift certificate.
