Fairly authoritative. Not so good at citing its sources. Arguably the most current.

World Development Indicators
Free resource from the World Bank. Authoritative. Documents all sources.

Current events

Academic Search Premier
By library subscription. Popular articles from a variety of news sources, especially magazines.

News and Newspapers Worldwide
Freely available newspapers published online. Good for locating non-U.S. voices. Browsing may work better than searching.

LexisNexis Academic
By library subscription. Search either major world papers in English, or news sources from the subject country in Spanish or Portuguese. Better searched than browsed. Current issues plus deep archive.

World News Connection
Translations of recent Spanish and Portuguese-language news sources into English. Can be clunky to use, but unique in content. Requires login and password, available here.
