How do I find scholarly interpretations of current events?

Directory of Open Access Journals (open access) (http://www.doaj.org)
An index to full-text peer-reviewed journals published in free online journals hosted by educational institutions. A small but growing collection. Broad searches work better here.

Google Scholar (open access) (http://scholar.google.com)
An index to books and to articles with bibliographies--many of them scholarly, but not all. Some links to full text--especially non-English. Search by journal title in our online catalog, or request articles on interlibrary loan.

Clase Periodica (http://www.muhlenberg.edu/library/articles/databases/alphabetical.html)
Index only. All scholarly journals published in Latin America in Spanish. Use with interlibrary loan.

How do I evaluate resources?

Visit Trexler Library's Evaluating Resources (http://www.muhlenberg.edu/library/guides/evaluating.pdf) page.

To evaluate Spanish-language newspapers in terms of history, influence, and politics, look in the index under "press" in the reference work: Encyclopedia of Contemporary Latin American and Caribbean Cultures (Reference 972.9003 E56o).

See also the list of Spanish-language newspapers marked with the IU symbol at Indiana University's Newspaper Websites for Latin America and Iberia (http://www.libraries.iub.edu/index.php?pageId=2992)

How do I cite my sources in a bibliography?

For tips on citing print and electronic sources, visit Trexler Library's Citation Guides for Print and Electronic Resources (http://www.muhlenberg.edu/library/reshelp/citations.html).
