Interlibrary Loan

The Interlibrary Loan Office service provides access to materials not owned by Muhlenberg College. Interlibrary loan service supports the study and research needs of Muhlenberg College students, faculty, staff, alumni/ae, and some affiliates.

The ILL office will gladly obtain materials from LVAIC libraries. College students, faculty, and staff may also borrow materials directly on-site from each LVAIC library.

As part of the larger interlibrary loan community, the Office also provides items from College collections to libraries around the world.

Enhanced services are now available!  To request books from other libraries, please use WorldCat or the ILL Book Request Form.  As part of our continuous improvements, the library is improving delivery time from all interlibrary loan services. The E-ZBorrow service is no longer available.  

Loan Status

You can view the status of your interlibrary loan requests when you view your patron record.

The ILL Request will show up as a separate button when you look at your record of checked out items, holds, fines, etc. A new request will only show up in your patron record only after it has been processed by the Interlibrary Loan Staff. Usually your requests are processed by the end of the day after you place them.

After processing, each one of your inter-library loan requests can appear as:

  • Awaiting Arrival means that the request has been forwarded to another library, but the Interlibrary Loan Office has not received it yet.
  • Ready for Pickup means that a book is ready to be checked out at the Trexler Library Circulation Desk.
  • Ready for Pickup can also mean that a photocopy has been received in the Interlibrary Loan Office but has not yet been mailed via campus or U.S. mail.

    Note: After the Office receives a photocopy and sends it out, your request is REMOVED from your record. So if you have three requests with the status "Awaiting Arrival" and two are received in the Office and sent out for delivery in campus or U.S. mail, then your user record will show that only one remains "Awaiting Arrival".
