Exploring Environmental Chemistry
July 7 - July 12, 2013
Muhlenberg College, Allentown, PA
An exciting research experience for high school students.
The Muhlenberg College Chemistry Department will host a week-long research experience for high school students. Participants will learn practical spectroscopic techniques and see how they can be used to analyze environmental samples. Hands-on instruction in the use of departmental instruments, including GC-MS, FT-IR, AA, NMR, and UV-Vis, will be offered. Various types of environmental samples (air, water, and soil) will be collected and analyzed by students. Instruction will take place in the classroom, field, and laboratory and will be provided by the Muhlenberg Chemistry Department faculty. Evenings will include a number of social events.
