Conclusion
Professional development projects must offer a balanced content of theory and practice within an interactive model in order to promote changes in instructional practices. Effective professional development projects also acknowledge and honor teachers’ current models of teaching including the demands, limitations, and challenges of teaching in the middle school context. We believe that the Middle School Literacy Project encompasses many of these features to make this professional development project a success.
