Russian Studies Featured Alumni Profiles

The interdisciplinary Russian Studies Program at ‘Berg allows students not only to learn about Russia, but also develop an appreciation for diversity, while preparing our graduates for jobs and responsible citizenship in today’s increasingly interconnected global world.  Below you will find profiles of some of our more recent alumni.

 

Kerri Cossean, Class of 2011

Kerri graduated Cum Laude with a double major in History and Russian Studies at Muhlenberg. Her extracurriculars included Pep Band, Russian Club, Alpha Phi Omega, and she is a founding father of Kappa Kappa Psi. After Berg, she received her master in History at Florida International University. While at FIU, she interned in the Executive Office at the American Embassy in Moscow and then at US Southcom in Doral, Florida. After graduation, she worked as a contractor for a few years before beginning her career at the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

Kerri spoke in several Russian classes, and attended the networking lunch and student-alumni meet and greet on Thursday, April 12, 2018.

Nicholas Farmer, Class of 2015

Nick Farmer is program management coordinator at the U.S. Agency for International Development’s Office of U.S. Foreign Disaster Assistance.  Nick works with the private sector to develop shared value partnerships around humanitarian assistance activities. Nick’s previous professional experience includes a stint with an international security forum, as well as working with the technical secretariat at the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues, and some time on Capitol Hill.  Nick graduated with a B.A. in International Relations and Russian Studies from Muhlenberg and spent time in St. Petersburg Russia while in school.

Sydney Yonak, Class of 2013

Sydney graduated from Muhlenberg in 2013 with a major in International Studies and minors in Russian Studies and music. She is currently the associate for global markets at Eurasia Group.

She also worked as a Program Assistant at FHI 360 which is a nonprofit human development organization dedicated to improving lives in lasting ways. She worked specifically in the Open World Program that is sponsored by the U.S. Congress, which brings emerging leaders from participating countries to the United States

Deborah Ward, Class of 2012

“Since graduating from Muhlenberg, I have been working on my M.S. in Psychology at Villanova University. After completing my Master's degree in the Spring of 2014, I will be entering the Ph.D. program in Social-Personality Psychology at the University of Buffalo, beginning the Fall of 2014 ..."
