French literacy is a passport to a global life.

When you major or minor in French & Francophone Studies at Muhlenberg, you’ll do more than develop your French language skills. You’ll immerse yourself in the literature and cultural practices of the francophone world, strengthen your understanding of linguistics and rhetoric, deepen your capacities for analysis and communication in multiple languages, and investigate contemporary issues through the lenses of history, politics, international relations, theater, art, literature and film and media studies.

French courses at Muhlenberg emphasize connections across cultures, critical thinking and the ability to read media and literature from diverse environments—valuable skills in today’s globalized workplaces. Students often pair their French & Francophone Studies major with other programs, such as education, business, international studies, English, biology, theatre, political science and more. These combinations open doors to unlimited potential for graduates in our increasingly connected world.
