March 18, 2016 Dr. Luba Iskold, professor of Russian, and Thomas Sciarrino, manager of instructional technology and digital learning, presented "Thinking through the Language Center Role and Design" at the annual Northeast Association for Language Learning Technology conference at Gettysburg College. March 18, 2016 Dr. Mirna Trauger and Camille Qualtere, lecturers in Spanish, attended the AAC&U Conference on Diversity, Learning, and Student Success: Shifting Paradigms and Challenging Mindsets, where they gave a presentation titled "Teaching Students with Disabilities: Strategies and Best Practices for Effective Instruction and Achieving Student Success."

March 9-11, 2016 Dr. Mirna Trauger, lecturer in Spanish, attended the XVII Congreso Internacional de Literatura Hispanica in Merida, Mexico. She read a paper titled "Canción de Rachel: Palimpsesto de la memoria cubana."

March 4-5, 2016 Dr. Mirna Trauger, lecturer in Spanish, attended the annual Middle Atlantic Council of Latin American Studies conference in Philadelphia, PA, where she chaired a session titled "Sexuality, Identity, Humor, and Nation-Building." She also organized the program for the conference.

January 2016 Dr. Eduardo Olid, associate professor of Spanish, had his book "Del teatro a la novela: el ritual del disfraz en las Novelas ejemplares de Cervantes" published in Alcalá de Henares (España), by Universidad de Alcalá de Henares, 2016. View More

December 18, 2015 Dr. Daniel Leisawitz, lecturer in Italian, had "Beyond Praxis: Leone de' Sommi's Apology of Theater and Judaism in his Quattro dialoghi in materia di rappresentazioni sceniche" published in Italica 92.2. He examines the first treatise on the art of theater direction, uncovering implicit defenses of secular theater and Jewish culture.

November 12, 2015 Dr. Daniel Leisawitz, lecturer in Italian, delivered a paper on the Italian film director Roberto Rossellini at an academic conference at Franklin & Marshall College: "Italian Cinema in the Present Tense: New Narrative Practices from Adaptation to Transmedia and Transnational Cinema."

October 23, 2015  Dr. Erika M. Sutherland, associate professor of Spanish, was interviewed on education and immigrant youth. She was on the Lehigh Valley discourse program with former professor John Pearce. Read More

October 21, 2015 Dr. Eileen McEwan, associate professor of French, presented a paper entitled "Breaking the Silence: Franco-American Responses to the Elite" at the Association for Canadian Studies in the U.S. conference in Las Vegas.

May 13, 2015 – Dr. Ioanna Chatzidimitriou, visiting assistant professor of French, has published an article titled "Pour une littérature-monde en français: The End of the Francophone World as We Know It?" in the May 2015 volume of the French Review.

May 5, 2015 Dr. Erika M. Sutherland, associate professor of Spanish, was part of a segment titled "If I Stay" on the local PBS station. The program aired at 7:30 pm on Tuesday May 5, 2015.

April 17, 2015 Dr. Daniel Leisawitz, lecturer in Italian, celebrated a book translation entitled “The Lumiere Galaxy: Seven Key Words for the Cinema to Come.”

April 24-26, 2015 Dr. Luba Iskold, professor of Russian, presented "Global Learning: Language Instruction for Short-term Study Abroad Experiences" at the 2015 NEALLT (Northeast Association of Language Learning Technology) conference at Carnegie Mellon University on April 24-26, 2015. April 22, 2015 Dr. Mirna Trauger and Camille Qualtere, lecturers in Spanish, presented a paper "Disability in the College Classroom: Some Observations" at Lafayette College. The presentation was part of the “Allies for Inclusion: The Ability Exhibit” that took place at Lafayette College and Muhlenberg College during April 2015.

March 9, 2015 Dr. Mirna Trauger, lecturer in Spanish, delivered a lecture titled "The Spanish American War and the Visual Construction of the Other: A gendered approach" at Lebanon Valley College in Annville, Pa.
