Media & Communication Department

Media and Communication Club

An important part of the Media and Communication major is the opportunity to share interests, ideas, and experiences with other students. The goal of the Media and Communication Club is to foster interest in media-related topics and concerns, as well as to provide a chance for students to meet and interact with each other and with Department of Media and Communication faculty outside of the classroom. The Club is also an excellent source of information for students looking into internship possibilities and future career opportunities with in the media and communication fields.

The Club is comprised of students interested in the field of media and communication but students DO NOT have to be a media and communication major to join the Club or to participate in any of its events or activities. The faculty advisor for the club is Dr. Matthew Stahl.

The Media and Communication Club sponsors many different activities thorughout the academic year. In the past, students have toured the facilities of radio stations, WZZO and B104, and learned about radio station operations. Students also took part in a workshop run by The Morning Call (Allentown's newspaper), where students learned about newspaper operations. Students of the Club also have the opportunity to attend film screenings at local movie theaters. Students have made field trips to New York City and atended live tapings of WB's Change of Heart, and The Daily Beat, a live music show where students had a chance to tour the facilities and meet with the show's producers. Students have also made a live guest appearance on MTV at the MTV studio on Times Square.

Ideas under consideration for the upcoming year include a trip to QVC in West Chester, Pennsylvania, a tour of Y100 Radio, and a New York City trip that will include live television tapings, as well as a visit to periodical publications.
