What should I wear?
Creative Movement students should wear comfortable clothing that does not inhibit them from moving freely and safely; shoes are not required. Ballet/pointe attire for girls: black leotard, pink tights, and pink ballet slippers. Ballet attire for boys: white t-shirt, fitted black dance pants, and black or neutral ballet slippers. Jazz, tap, and modern attire for girls: any color leotard with black jazz pants/shorts and appropriate footwear (jazz or tap shoes, bare feet). Jazz, tap, and modern attire for boys: fitted t-shirt and fitted black dance pants with appropriate footwear. Consult the Handbook (linked above) for more information.
Are there any discounts available?
Muhlenberg College students receive 30% off total fees.
Faculty and staff receive 15% off total fees.
Families registering more than one child receive a 10% discount off their total tuition (not including Performance Company fee).
No more than one discount program per family.
Can I drop in and take a class?
Yes! The drop-in rate is $18, payable at the door. This is a good option for trying out a class to see if it's the right class for you. Please arrange this in advance, so that we can email you the necessary waivers, by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or calling 484-664-3087.
What is the MCDC Performance Company?
The Performance Company is a
two-hour class for MCDC students who are already registered for
technique classes, and who are interested in learning more about the
performance side of dance. The Company is a full-year commitment and
also includes outside classes and performances. This includes an annual trip and class in NYC along with performances
at Parkland High School and Mayfair. Company requirements include:
registration each semester in at least one MCDC ballet class and
attendance at two Muhlenberg College dance performances (Thursday,
Nov. 14, and Thursday, Feb. 6). Tickets will be
provided for Performance Company dancers. Company work includes
warm-up, dance repertory and newly choreographed material, rehearsals,
and being a part of the more "grand scale" performance pieces in our Spring Performance. The Company is for ages 10 and older with director approval. .
Do I need to pay the $15 registration fee?
The fee only needs to be paid once a year, so if you pay in the fall you do not have to pay again in the spring. Each family needs to pay the registration fee just once per year.

What should parents do during class?
Parents are not permitted to sit in the classroom and observe their child’s class. This is to insure optimal learning for ALL children attending class. If there are any problems, the teacher or assistant will contact you immediately.
We recommend parents find one of the many comfortable public spaces on campus during their children's class:
- Trexler Pavilion: The Box Office Lobby and Baker Theatre Lobby ("The Fishbowl"), just an elevator ride away from the Upper Level Studio
- Baker Center for the Arts: The vending area, just across the Main Concourse from the steps up to the Tap Box (CA-226); the Martin Art Gallery, right up the ramp.
- Trexler Library, right down Chew Street
- Seegers Union, where you can get a snack at Java Joe's Coffee Cart and the General's Quarters.
