Notes From the Director

Dear Friends,
Rehearsals are well underway for our spring performance of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. We are looking forward to performing next month for our families and friends and seeing all the dancers’ hard work come to life in Baker Theatre! Tickets for the performance are available by calling the box office at: 484-664-3333. (Youth tickets are $5 and adult tickets are $10.)
We also would like to offer our young dancers' loved ones and supporters the opportunity to wish their dancers well, with a message in the official Charlie and the Chocolate Factory program book! To place a message, just fill out this form and return it to us by April 20:

You can help publicize the show by printing out the official Chocolate Factory poster and hanging it up wherever there are people who might want to attend!

We can still use your help in other ways, too! I am still in need of ushers and parent chaperones. Please contact me at: lbusfield@muhlenberg.edu if you are interested in assisting us. A handout went out in March with descriptions of these roles.

Get a memento from the Charlie and Chocolate Factory experience! Show t-shirts and performance dvds are available; order yours now!
You can also send your dancer a good luck message in the performance program — and help to support MCDC (which is a nonprofit operation of the Muhlenberg College Dance Program)!
If you're interested, please download the forms and hand them in to your teacher by April 20.

Register now for the MCDC Summer Session classes in Jazz, Ballet, Modern, Creative Movement, and Musical Theatre Dance! Classes are offered at a variety of levels:
Creative Movement, ages 4-6 — Mondays, 5-6
Beginning Ballet & Jazz, ages 7-9 — Mondays, 6-7:30
Intermediate Modern & Jazz, ages 9-13 — Tuesdays, 6-7
Intermediate Ballet, ages 9-13 — Tuesdays, 5-6
Advanced Ballet, ages 13+ — Mondays, 5-6:30 & Wednesdays, 5-6:30
Advanced Jazz, ages 13+ — Wednesdays, 6:30-7:30
Advanced Modern, ages 13+ — Mondays 6:30-7:30
Musical Theatre Dance, ages 13+ — Wednesdays, 7:30-8:30

Meet the MCDC Family
|
|
April's Student of the Month is Keira Walther. Now 7, Keira has been taking MCDC classes since she was 5-and-a-half. She took Creative Movement last year and is in the Beginning Ballet class this year.
Keira says she has been dancing ever since she could walk. She attends Shoemaker Elementary School, and besides dancing, she loves building Lego Friends, being a Daisy Scout, reading, doing math, swimming, being a big sister and making new friends.
"My favorite thing about dancing is how happy it makes me feel," she says. "And I think it's cool that dance words are in French."

Performance Company Update
|
|
Parkland High School hosted its Just Dance Showcase on March 2. MCDC’s Performance Company performed a jazz piece choreographed by Jill Casella. This was their second time performing in the Showcase.
