Applying to a Cooperative Program
SUNY College of Optometry 3-4 Combined Program
An agreement between Muhlenberg College and SUNY College of Optometry allows selected students to enter SUNY College of Optometry at the end of their third year of study at Muhlenberg. To be considered, students must:
(In High School)
- Attain a minimum 93/100 high school GPA
- Score at least 670 on the Math SAT and 1300 on the combined SAT(Critical Reading + Math) or 29 on the ACT
- Rank in the top 10% of their high school class
(At Muhlenberg)
- Maintain both an overall CUM and Science GPA of 3.3 or greater
- Have no grades below a "C"
- Take the Optometry Admission Test (OAT) during the third year at Muhlenberg and attain a total Science score of at least 330 with no individual score below 320
Deadlines
- Personal interview with Muhlenberg College Admissions before January 1
- Completed admissions application with *LETTER OF INTENT to Muhlenberg College Office of Admissions before January 1 of senior year. (*Letter of Intent should tell us why you want to be considered for the program and what uniquely qualifies you for consideration. Length is typically 1-2 pages.)
