from Tuesday at Moravian, had the same rank in the final poll of the 2010-11 season. They went 23-6 last year, winning the Centennial Conference championship and advancing to the “Sweet 16” of the NCAA Tournament for the second time in three years.
The team Muhlenberg defeated to reach the “Sweet 16,” Rochester, is ranked eighth in the preseason poll, and the team that finally knocked the Mules out, Amherst, is ranked No. 1 as the defending national champion.
Three teams of relevance to the Mules received votes: Williams (37), the team Muhlenberg beat in the first round of the NCAAs, Johns Hopkins (18), the defending CC regular-season champion, and local rivals DeSales (16).
This is the fourth time Muhlenberg has appeared in the D3hoops.com preseason top 25. The Mules were rated 10th prior to the start of the 2009-10 season, 24th in the 2008-09 preseason poll and 20th in 2002-03. They also received votes in the 2006-07 preseason poll.
