Men's Soccer Team

The Muhlenberg men’s soccer team received two first-place votes to finish third in the Centennial Conference preseason coaches poll.

Defending CC champion Dickinson was ranked first in the poll, followed by Johns Hopkins. Both teams received four first-place votes. Tallying 69 points, Muhlenberg trailed Dickinson by just four points and Johns Hopkins by only two.

The Mules finished the 2011 season with a 10-6-1 record (6-3 in the CC) and a No. 3 seed coming into the CC tournament, where they were eliminated by Dickinson.

Returning for Muhlenberg are first-team All-CC players Danny Way, Nate Squire and Kyle Plifka. Way and Squire led the team in scoring last season, accumulating 15 and 11 points, respectively. Plifka, the team’s starting center back, has been the cornerstone of the Mule defense for the past three seasons.

Two-time All-American Cody Antonini will be back in action this season after taking the 2011 season off. He led the team in scoring in 2010, totaling 39 points in 22 games.

Muhlenberg kicks off its 2012 season with a home game against Elizabethtown on Friday, August 31.
