Dornenburg Named Player of the Week
Monday, September 10, 2012|
In the Mules’ lone game of the week, Dornenburg made 12 saves in a 2-1 win against Montclair State, which came in ranked ninth in the Division III
preseason poll and having scored 12 goals in its first two games. Despite facing 23 shots and 16 penalty corners, Dornenburg kept the Red Hawks off the
scoreboard until they converted a penalty stroke after time expired.
The weekly nod is the second in Dornenburg’s career. She was honored as a freshman in 2009 after another upset of a top-10 team she recorded
11 saves in a 1-0 defeat of No. 10 Johns Hopkins.
For the season, Dornenburg has a 1.33 goals-against average and .840 save percentage. The 12 stops in the Montclair State game gave her a career total of
426, just 90 away from the school record.
