Freshman Francesca Cobuzzi of the Muhlenberg women’s soccer team was named defensive player of the week by the Centennial Conference.

Cobuzzi made 25 saves and allowed just one goal in 197 minutes against two of the top five teams in the regional rankings. She stopped eight shots in a 1-0 double-overtime loss at Haverford, then recorded 17 saves in a 2-0 win against sixth-ranked Johns Hopkins.

The 17 saves were the most by a Mule goalie since 1998 and the most in a winning effort since 1993.

For the season, Cobuzzi has an .848 save percentage and ranks second in the CC with 39 saves.
