Porrini Named Player of the Week
Monday, October 1, 2012|
Porrini’s play in the back was a big factor in the Mules recording back-to-back shutouts for the first time since early 2009. Muhlenberg blanked Widener (1-0) and Dickinson (4-0) despite facing 25 penalty corners in the two games, all but four of which came with the score tied or Muhlenberg clinging to a one-goal lead.
Porrini has been solid for the Mules all season, starting every game. Her defensive save in overtime against McDaniel helped pave the way for an important 4-3 win.
Porrini is the second Muhlenberg player to be named defensive player of the week this year; senior goalie Kristen Dornenburg was honored three weeks ago. The Mules (6-3) have allowed only 12 goals in nine games to rank third in the CC in fewest goals allowed. They will enter Wednesday’s home game against Bryn Mawr with an unscored-on streak of 157 minutes.
