Fake Field Goal Duo Honored by Centennial Conference
Sunday, October 14, 2012|
On a day when the other four CC games were decided by an average of more than 25 points, Carlucci and Gimbar combined for the play of the day on the game of the day,
the Mules’ 35-31 win against previously undefeated Gettysburg.
With Muhlenberg trailing 31-28 and less than three minutes remaining, the duo came onto the field with the rest of the field goal unit, apparently to try a game-tying
32-yard field goal. But Carlucci (left), the holder, took the snap and passed to Gimbar (right), who ran untouched into the end zone for the game-winning
touchdown.
The 15-yard play was the second touchdown pass of the season for Carlucci, who saw time at quarterback in the first five games. It was the first career touch
for Gimbar, a starting outside linebacker who also had two sacks in the game.
