Men's Soccer Sweeps Centennial Weekly Awards

Cody Antonini, Danny Pinto The Muhlenberg men’s soccer team swept the Centennial Conference weekly awards after winning a pair of games. Senior Cody Antonini was named offensive player of the week, and sophomore Danny Pinto was named defensive player of the week.

Antonini, who received the honor for the third time this season, scored three goals in the two games. He netted two in a span of 1:27 in the second half at William Paterson, bringing the Mules back from a 1-0 deficit, and he broke a scoreless tie 41 seconds into the second half of an eventual 2-0 win against Gettysburg.

The three goals gave Antonini 46 for his career, moving him from 15th to 12th on the all-time CC list. He leads the CC in points with 28 and is tied for first with 13 goals.

Pinto, who entered the week with a career total of seven minutes played, made his first two career starts and won them both. He recorded six saves to earn the shutout in his CC debut, the defeat of Gettysburg in a must-win game for the Mules. For the week, he sported a 0.50 goals-against average and .900 save percentage.

Muhlenberg enters the final week of the regular season tied with Franklin & Marshall for fourth place in the CC. The top five teams qualify for the playoffs. The Mules (10-4, 4-3) have a huge home game Wednesday night against defending champion Dickinson (10-3-2, 5-1-1) and close out the regular season at Ursinus (5-10, 1-6) on Saturday.

The two teams that could overtake the Mules, Johns Hopkins (5-7-2, 3-3-1) and Washington (5-8, 3-4), play each other in Chestertown on Saturday. Washington also hosts Swarthmore on Wednesday, while Johns Hopkins travels to McDaniel.
