Connor Winter When the Muhlenberg football team played Dickinson last year, the game was noteworthy for winter weather. This year’s Dickinson game was noteworthy for Winter kicking.

Sophomore Connor Winter was named special teams player of the week by the Centennial Conference.

Winter scored 12 points – tied for the third-most by a Mule kicker in a game – in yesterday’s 61-21 win at Dickinson. He booted six extra points and two field goals, including one from a career-best 42 yards that cleared the crossbar with plenty to spare. Winter also kicked off well, pinning the Red Devils inside their 30 on six of his eight kickoffs.

For the season, Winter has made all but one of his 30 PAT tries and is 5-for-11 on field goals. He is tied for third in the CC in scoring by kickers.

This is the second time in three weeks that Muhlenberg has won the CC special teams honor, and Winter “helped” in the other one. He was the decoy in the fake field goal that went for a game-winning touchdown against previously undefeated Gettysburg.

The win moved the Mules (6-2, 5-2) into a three-way tie for second place in the CC with Gettysburg and Franklin & Marshall. Muhlenberg hosts Ursinus (5-3, 4-3) in its home finale on Saturday.
