After its third straight second-place finish in 2013, the Muhlenberg football team will start the 2014 campaign picked second in the Centennial Conference’s annual preseason poll.

The Mules have a conference-best 19 returning starters, including nine players from their Centennial-leading defense that gave up only 14.5 points per game and a stingy 293.4 yards per contest. Eight starters from their high-powered offense that averaged 34.3 point per game will be returning as well.

Muhlenberg’s preseason rank is the highest since it was picked second in 2009. All 11 All-Centennial selections will be returning this year, including senior guard Tommy DeVito (pictured left).

The Mules start their season on Saturday, Sept. 6, at Wilkes, and then open up Centennial play at home against Franklin & Marshall on Saturday, Sept. 13.
